The RS124 originated from Altec 436B units acquired in the late 1950s and subsequently modified by EMI engineers to meet the demands of their studios.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"font_8 wixui-rich-text__text\"\u003eThese units gave rise to the legendary EMI RS124s, widely used in the 1960s and 1970s, a period when artists like the Beatles and Pink Floyd recorded historic albums at Abbey Road.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eOur version of this classic features some modifications to enhance its versatility and ease of use in modern studios, such as:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e- Boost switch that injects more signal into the input transformer. This makes the compressor work more aggressively. The Boost switch injects an additional 15dB into the compressor, bringing a more colorful and saturated sound to the unit.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e- High Pass filter on the sidechain, making the compressor act on frequencies above 150 Hz.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e- Attack and Recovery controls with 6 different positions, controlled by a rotary switch.
